Terms of Service
Xiangqi Arena is an online platform for playing and studying xiangqi (Chinese chess). These terms are a plain-language agreement between you and the operator of the service. By creating an account or using the site, you accept them.
1. Who we are
Xiangqi Arena is operated from Singapore and served at xiangqi.tranchitam.com. It offers live games, puzzles, lessons, a master-game archive, and optional paid memberships.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the service.
2. Your account
When you register, you agree to the following:
- Provide a real email address that you control. It is used to secure your account and is never shown publicly.
- Keep one account per person. Do not share, sell, or transfer it.
- Keep your password secret. Activity on your account is your responsibility.
- Do not impersonate other people or choose names that are offensive or misleading.
Guest accounts let you try the service without registering. They are limited to casual play, and a guest identity cannot be recovered once its session is lost.
3. Age
You must be at least 13 years old to use Xiangqi Arena. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
4. Free play and memberships
The heart of the service is free: playing games, solving puzzles, and the core learning content. Paid plans (Basic, Standard, and Premium) raise usage limits and unlock additional features; exactly what each plan includes is shown on the membership page before you pay.
Free accounts see advertising on main pages. Members play ad-free.
5. Billing and cancellation
Payments are processed by Stripe. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
You can cancel, resume, or switch plans at any time from your membership settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep your benefits until then.
Except where the law requires otherwise, payments for a started billing period are not refunded. If prices change, we will tell you before the new price applies to you.
6. Fair play
Xiangqi Arena is built on honest competition:
- Do not use engine assistance or outside help in rated games.
- Do not manipulate ratings by losing on purpose, boosting, or playing yourself through multiple accounts.
- Do not automate play. Bots are welcome only as the ones we run ourselves.
- Do not exploit bugs. If you find one, please report it.
Breaking these rules can lead to warnings, voided results, restricted features, or account closure, depending on severity. If you believe we got it wrong, contact us and we will review it.
7. Your content
You keep the rights to content you submit, such as your display name, avatar image, and positions or studies you create. You grant us a licence to host and display that content as part of running the service.
Keep what you submit lawful and respectful. We may remove content or names that violate these terms.
8. Play is public
Games, results, ratings, and leaderboard standings are the public sporting record of the site. They remain visible so that rankings and your opponents' histories stay honest. What exactly is public is listed in the privacy policy.
9. Site content and the master archive
The historical master games in the database are facts of the public sporting record. Our lessons, commentary, translations, curated biographies, and software are our own work and are protected.
You are welcome to use the site for personal study. Bulk scraping or republishing of site content is not allowed.
10. Acceptable use
In addition to fair play, you agree not to:
- Probe, attack, or attempt unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure.
- Evade rate limits or flood the service with automated requests.
- Interfere with other people's games or their use of the service.
- Use the service in any way that breaks the law.
11. Service changes and disclaimers
Xiangqi Arena is provided as-is. We work to keep it reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may add, change, or retire features.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from your use of the service, and our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms removes rights that the law does not allow to be limited.
12. Ending the relationship
You can stop using the service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account as described in the privacy policy.
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive closure (such as fair-play findings, liability limits, and governing law) survive it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Changes are posted on this page with the date above, and material changes will be announced on the site. Using the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
14. Law and language
These terms are governed by the law of Singapore, and disputes belong to the courts of Singapore.
This page is offered in several languages for convenience. If translations differ, the English version prevails.
